Lancaster and Lakes Jewish Community welcomes people from all strands of Judaism. It is not affiliated to any particular denomination.
We are a member of the cross-community Board of Deputies of British Jews and a member of the Jewish Small Communities Network. We have close links with Lancaster University Jewish Society.
We work each year in partnership with other organisations in the area, to put on events commemorating the International Holocaust Memorial Day.
Our activities
We hold services in the synagogue at Lancaster University Chaplaincy Centre including services for the High Holy Days of Rosh Hashonah, Kol Nidrei and Yom Kippur, and occasional Shabbat services throughout the year. We hold a regular Chanukah party and often a communal seder; we celebrate other festivals during the year and also hold social events and talks, both at the Jewish Rooms at Lancaster University, and in members’ homes.
