Jewish burial in Lancaster
By arrangement with Lancaster City Council Cemeteries Department, Lancaster and Lakes Jewish Community has reserved a section of Scotforth Cemetery for Jewish burials. We have three plots there currently, two privately purchased by members of the community, and one currently owned by the community..
We have occasionally been asked to advise local families and local service organisations when a death of a Jewish person has occurred, and we are able to advise on burials and on the process of Jewish mourning and to provide support where we can.
Jewish funerals can be carried out by a lay person, so our Chair could officiate at a funeral locally if required: we can also provide contact details of orthodox, reform and liberal rabbis in north west England who could provide assistance.
Please contact the Chair or Secretary if you or your family would like to discuss burial.
